Dangers along the road to a Social Value future:
- The "Digital Black Hole Problem"--endless expense for excessive (but
prestigious) toys (VRML, animations, video, etc.)
- The "Web Problem"--too much free crap (we must ensure that peer review
is maintained as a fundamental prerequisite)
- The "Milosevic Problem"--too many entrenched interests willing to
destroy their country in order to remain in power
- The "Soviet Publishing Problem"--without capital limits as driving
principle, publication of prestigious author's bad work hard to
restrict
- The "advantaging the commercial publishers" problem--by making
print and royalties seem more prestigious than the value of public
good
