- Large physical infrastructure for printing/warehousing/shipping
- Large financial risk/gamble
These are true regardless of publication type (romance novel, scientific
monograph, humanities monograph, how-to book, encyclopedia) or
publisher purpose (education, dissemination, profit, propoganda)
