Current Conclusions, Continued


  • Digitization, while initially expensive, seems to be paying for itself w/in 5 years
  • Opportunities abound once material digitized in any form (even just raw OCR) for new exploration modalities
  • We are just beginning to take advantage of digitized collections
  • Digitization and open access means that our material will be included in more "online digital collections" than otherwise.
  • Open Web access brings us millions of browsers, which brings us customers and dissemination
  • For our kind of publishing, open access to digitized content is a necessity.
